It has been mentioned that The Second Take refers to Tony collaborating with Steve once again, from the Division Street days, but also with Mike, from Sneak’s Noise and Real Live Girl. It’s all going around and coming around simultaneously!
From 2008 to 2016, Tony was the primary songwriter, bassist and producer for Jack Brag, which turned out 3 original albums and contributed songs to six tribute albums. Jersey Beat said the following about the Jack Brag album “Unbroken White“, “…the songwriting is likewise on the money, terse and to the point, thereby ensuring that this baby covers all the correct right-on bases to qualify as a total winner.”
As producer, Tony’s credits include not only all the afore-mentioned Jack Brag releases, but also the compilation albums, “Cut Pieces: A Tribute To Yoko Ono”, “End NF: Music For Children’s Tumor Foundation”, the Tara Elliott album, “Drop A Needle On The King” and the Real Live Girl album, “Dumbing Down Amerca”.
The debut album from The Second Take is Tony’s latest effort to date as producer, along with playing bass, and contributing songwriting along with Steve.
Seven Questions for Tony:
1. Coffee Or Tea: I end up having tea once or twice a year for some reason, but have to have a cup of coffee daily. I love that in Britain, “tea” is a state of mind and a meal, not just a beverage. You can get something called “chicken coffee” in Tobyhanna, PA. They sell it at a store called….Store.
2. Favorite Beatle: Toss up between Ed Sullivan and Yoko Ono
3. Dogs or cats: Love both, but have only lived with cats, so I guess that gets the edge. Also love parrots and parakeets.
4. Flying or Road Trip: Flying–by airship. And the hardcore kind, filled with hydrogen, none of that candy-ass “helium” crap.
5. Would love a bass lesson from: Stuart Sutcliffe
6. Number of towns in New Jersey I’ve resided in: Well, let’s see….Jersey City, Bayonne, Keyport, Kearny and Harrison…that makes 5!
7. Best concert: X at Stone Pony was amazing, as was Rush at Prudential Center. Saw Bob Mould twice (once with Sugar, once solo acoustic) Any of these could qualify. There are many others I’m not recalling at the moment, no doubt.
